Amish Chow Chow Recipe
Layer the following washed and chopped vegetables in a medium or large jar. Adjust the recipe as needed for smaller or larger sizes.
Cauliflower [Separated in Flowerets]
Shelled Lima Beans
Fresh Whole Kernel Corn
Green Peppers [Chopped]
Green Tomatoes [Chopped]
Bring the following to boil
2 Tablespoons Celery Seed
1 Tablespoons Yellow Mustard Seed
1 Tablespoon Black Mustard Seed
2 Tablespoons Dry Mustard
1 Tablespoon Turmeric (fresh is best)
3 Quarts Cider Vinegar
2 Cups raw sugar or honey
Pour liquid over veggies and let sit for a week or so until ready. Can be eaten fresh or canned for later use.
Jars can also be used to make rum or brandy punch for the holidays by layering fruit in season and topping off with rum, whiskey, or brandy.
